Hot Rod Hill Climb 2020
July 24, 2020
Looks like we need to give the ole’ girl a rest, Hot Rod Hill Climb gets a year off. We’ve done everything we reasonably can, 2020 Hot Rod Hill Climb just isn’t going to get on her wheels this year.
With the support of Central City we have asked for the county’s support to issue a variance request from the state to have more then 500 people. County Commissioners believe all variances to allow more people into the community is not in the best interest of residents right now. On top of that our Governor has said his office will not review variance requests for at least 2 weeks. We are going to respect the decisions made by those who look after the community.
The community and patrons who support the Hot Rod Hill Climb have been calling, messaging, and emailing to support us. We appreciate you. We appreciate your passion for what we do. I have a feeling a year off is going to be just what our crew needs to come back strong.
Thank you to our patrons, our sponsors, Central City, Gilpin County and all our supporters. Be well and be kind to your neighbor.
God Bless the United States,
– Nick

Here are a few photos from years past….
Hot Rod Hill Climb Tech Inspection
Hot Rod Hill Climb Participants!!
What is the Tech Inspection about? It’s another set of eyes on your car.
Tom Stark and crew at Precision Designs will be doing tech inspections at the 2019 event. It’s a very simple once over on your Hot Rod, these guys know their stuff, if they find something that needs attention they will point it out and likely help you get it fixed.
This is a great place to see the cars up close!
What these guys offered to do for HRHC, was look over the cars for anything that might be unsafe or questionable.
- Brakes
- Tires & Wheels
- Brackets & Suspension
- Doors stay closed
- Steering is solid and tight
- Seat belts
- Oil and fuel lines
- Throttle Linkage (cant go over center, needs throttle return spring)
- Fluid leaks
- Battery hold down
- Wiring
- Exhaust hangers
- Fire Extinguisher (please have one in the car)
- Helmets for Open Cars
It’s really just another set of eyes on the car, we’ve had loose radius rods out back, broken welds on the frame, loose king pins, a few weak throttle springs, and tie rods that were too low for the road.
The hill is no joke… its a climb.
Emergency brakes are highly recommended, just in-case you need it, safety.
That’s about it.
Tech Schedule
Thursday 09/11/2019 Noon to 5pm
Precision Designs 4600 Glenco St, Denver Colorado 80216
Friday 09/13/2019 Noon to 5pm
